The 3D/360 Scan Process

FSIB 3D Scan Team uses a special Matterport 3D camera which is placed throughout all rooms of the property in several selected locations to align them to get the 3D model. The number of locations can range from as low as 50 to over 200. At each location, the camera rotates 360-degrees, stopping several times to take images and measurements.

The camera has three separate elements: one looking up, one looking down and one looking straight ahead. The data from each location is transmitted to the special software during the scan session. At the end of the scan session, the data is uploaded to a cloud server and by the next day, the completed model is ready with the link to embed in your website, social media and your virtual tour.

Length of Scan Session

The larger the property, the more locations to be scanned to properly image the property and to provide visitors a logical flow of camera placements to tour the property.

Preparation for Scan

+

Preparation for Scanare some important additional requirements for 3D scanning. The 3D camera “sees” 360-degrees, taking thousands of images. The model is built in software by aligning the data of every camera placement with those nearby. This alignment is essential to creating the final 3D model. In most regards, the preparation for a 3D scan session is the same as for a photo shoot.

Additional Requirements

+

 1. All objects in the property must be left in place during the scan session.2. All doors must be left in the same position for the duration of the scan. Any decisions as to whether to include a room or area must be made at the beginning of the scan session.

During the Scan Session

+

The camera “sees” 360-degrees and is continually rotating and taking images. Any movements by other persons or reflections in mirrors can be caught by the camera and there is no way to know this until the final model is rendered. Better the property is unoccupied during the scan session, then it is essential that any persons inside the property are on a different level of the home while the 3D Scan Technician is operating the camera.

Tagging Assets & Specific Points

+

Mattertag Posts turn Spaces into a multimedia hub. They’re anchored to points in the 3D model data, so you’re able to add descriptions and embed almost anything – like additional photos, video, or audio files – right in your 3D Space. This turns Spaces into a powerful tool for communicating with remote stakeholders, property buyers, prospective lessees, or global audiences.
